It is often said that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. With that in mind, Devon Harris became concerned when he discovered that a significant number of students at the Drews Ave Primary School were attending school without that first all-important meal of the day. That prompted him to start the breakfast program through the Keep On Pushing Foundation.
There are numerous studies that tout the benefits of a school breakfast program. The impact of the breakfast program at the Drews Ave Primary School support those findings. Students provided with a nutritious breakfast at the start of the school day have demonstrated improved alertness, concentration, problem-solving ability, and improved memory – all of which has resulted in better test scores. Additionally, since the breakfast program was implemented, there has been an uptick in attendance, punctuality as well as an improvement in behavior.
In concert with our mission to provide practical solutions to the things that are preventing kids in disadvantaged communities from getting properly educated, the Keep On Pushing Foundation has undertaken a school supplies program.
